Four Buddhist School In Tibet
The Buddist School in Tibet were divided into four main categories where each schools practices their own unique traditions and teaching practices.
These Schools are:
1. Nyingma; It literally means old, Which means this school is the oldest Tibetan Buddhism which was founded based on teachings of Padmasambhawa. It emphasis the practice of Dzogchen or "Great Perfection " that focuses on realization of the innate nature of mind.
2. Kagyu; It is known as "Oral Lineage". They mainly emphasis on meditation practice especially Mahamudra "Great Seal" and the six Yogas of Naropa. The school was introduced by Marpa and his disciple Milarepa in the 11th century.
3. Sakya; It was in 11th century when school was founded by Konchok Gyalpo. The school focuses on the teachings of Sutra and Tantra.
4. Gelug; Gelug School was founded by Tsongkhapa in 14th century. It is also referred as "Yellow Hat". It emphasis on discipline, scholarship and the systematic study of Buddhism philosophy.
